Things to consider the next time you go out to eat:

So, I have been a little lazy in the job finding department, but I have some good reasons! First one, unfortunately I make more money waitressing than I would at any Design job I've seen out there. Second, It's easy, stress free and when I go home I don't have to think about it at all until my next shift. And lastly, I'm taking quite a few vacations this holiday season, so it doesn't make sense to get hired somewhere and have to ask for a bunch of days off.

That being said, while I like waitressing I have some pet peeves that I think people who haven't worked in a restaurant NEED to know.

Never tell your server that you want a round of waters for everyone after you've all already ordered beverages. If someone wants water, that's fine, I'll get it for them. But unless someone specifically says they want it, there is no need to speak on behalf of the whole table. You better believe I'm cursing you out in my head when theres 9 people with 9 drinks and then some ass-hole says "and a round of waters for the table." That's 18 drinks for me to get! As if I am not busy enough!

That being said.... If you order a diet coke and a water. Drink the effing water. So many times I see the water untouched sitting on the table and yet you're asking for your diet coke refills! It's frustrating to say the least.

If you've already ordered a cheeseburger and then five minutes later decide that you really want the fish and chips, suck it up and stick with the cheeseburger. Do you know what a bitch it is to have to run and tell the cooks not to make your 'already in the process of being made' burger, ring in your fish and chips and then fix the bill just because you can't make up your mind? Seriously! It drives me mad!

Don't come to a restaurant with a party of 5 or higher and then ask for separate checks. Come prepared with cash, have a volunteer payer to pay and then reimburse them later or split it equally. I have better things to do than fix 8 different transactions so your cheap-ass can have a bill that's the exact amount to the penny.

I understand that in your restaurant adventures you will run into some pretty poor food service. I get it. I myself have experienced this too. But you should know that if you are going out on a Friday night at dinner time, you might not always get the best possible service. Try as I might there will always be that one table that has the curse. Anything that can go wrong will, and I'm sorry for that. It sucks for both parties involved. But please try to be a little sympathetic, the nicer you are to the server, the more likely they will be to try and keep you happy. However, there are some servers that are slow, stupid and just plain rude. In that case I say call for the manager!

If you are in a fowl mood stay at home! I don't want to serve bitchy people as much as you don't want to be served by a bitchy waitress!

If your host seats you in a section never ask to sit in the corner booth surrounded by a sea of empty tables. That means that section is closed and the tables are clean. If you sit there that means that some poor kid (me) has to go back and re-clean that table. No one wants to do that. If you don't like the booth given to you totally ask to be sat in a different section. I'm guilty of this too. But if you want the private booth alone with no one around, than you should probably be staying home and ordering a pizza. Just sayin. Also keep in mind that the hosts are not seating you nilly willy. There is in fact actually a rotation going on and by moving seats you are messing up the rotation.

Do not get mad that there is a wait even though there are empty tables. The reason there are empty tables is because the hosts don't want to overload the servers. Getting "triple sat" and then having to get drinks for everyone and then food orders while keeping control of the already down tables gets tricky. Even if you did get sat it will probably be another 5 to 10 minutes before you get service so either way you're waiting. What's the difference?

Although you may think your kid is cute, I don't. You should be ready to give me all of your kids orders at the table when we are ordering. It is not necessary to give your child 10 different options. And then let me stare at them while they stare into blanks space (probably thinking about my little pony- NOT what they want for dinner.) I am busy. Give them two options. If they can't answer, you decide for them. Or better yet! You order for them! It's much appreciated. Although, I sometimes do get very polite, well mannered children who know what they want and behave. I love those kind.

Don't rack up a fifty dollar bill and then tip three dollars. That's just rude.

That's all I've got for today folks. Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and for golly sakes please be kind to your server!

...and we shed what was left of our Summer skin.

This Summer was a life changing one. In 3 months I've learned so much about who I am and what I want in my life. I fell in love with my dream man and lost an important member of my family in one season. This time of year always reminds me of one of my favorite Death Cab for Cutie songs, Summer Skin. It's the perfect song to conclude the summer. Here are some of the main events that have happened in my life the last 3 months plus some sprinkled song lyrics here and there.

Squeaky swings and tall grass
The longest shadows ever cast
The water's warm and children swim
And we frolicked about in our summer skin

In June....

We celebrated Memorial day weekend in Palm springs at the Riviera Spa and Resort. This was also the weekend that the "L word" was used for the first time. :) Now it's a constant one in mine and Wes's vocabulary and I hope it stays that way!

In July....

We honored the 4th with a relaxing day and an unexpected romantic firework viewing. It was wonderful!

My Dad turned 49. He's quite the party animal!

Who enjoys a stiff drink every so often. Below is his version of a margarita. Ick.

I quit my big girl job. THIS is why.

My Mama moved to Vegas and made a pit-stop in Orange County to visit little ol' me!

...And Wes took us to see Young the Giant. They were A-maze-ing live!

Our family suffered a painful loss when my grandfather passed away. Just days after his birthday... He had a good life and was loved by many. I know that even though he's not with us in person, he will always be with us in our hearts.
(my Grandpa, my Brother, Me, and my Grandma)

On the night you left I came over
And we peeled the freckles from our shoulders
Our brand new coats so flushed and pink
And I knew your heart I couldn't win
Cause the seasons change was a conduit
And we left our love in our summer skin

I went with Wes and a couple of our friends to see Tears for Fears and we shouted it out!

In August....

Wes's parents came all the way from Connecticut to visit us and California for the first time on their cross country RV trip!

Unfortunately, his parent's Shitzus freaked out  his cat, and Wes was attacked.

A 3 hour ER visit and 4 stitches later, he was good as new. The cat however, took a week to recover from the trauma and spent 2 weeks after the event, hiding in the closet.

We said farewell to this lovely couple as they left OC to get hitched and start a life together back in their home state of CT. The wedding is October 20th, which means that I'll be taking a little vacay soon! Woot, woot!

We went to LA's H20 Festival to see Wes's friend Nick perform with his band, Santa Mamba.

Where I also got to meet freaking Snoop Dogg/Lion! That shizzle was off the hookizzle. You can get the lowdizzle on that story over hizzle. I'm done with the Snopp talk. Sorry.

In September....

This sweet little muffin turned 4 years old. Or 28 in puppy years!

We had homemade pupcakes and hot dogs for dinner in her honor! Read all about her day and get the cupcake recipe here.

I don't recall a single care
Just greenery and humid air
Then Labor day came and went
And we shed what was left of our summer skin

I helped Jesus Jugs and her Ginger Hubs move in to their very own home! She has a cute and witty post on her blog explaining their 'Hunt to Homeownership in Numbers!' Check it out ya'll.

The weekend after we had a much needed girls cowgirls night out at Incahoots in Fullerton.

I turned 27.

Wasn't I a cute little baby?

Wes turned 31 the same day so we took a mini trip to Catalina for the night. It was Beautiful! And super fun.

Just look at this place! Click here to see the whole trip in detail.

And for your musical enjoyment....

I hope everyone had a great Summer as well! I am so excited for what the rest of this year has in store. Peace out Summer! Finally.

Me and Betsey Johnson, BFFs Part 2

That's right. Me and Betsey. We're Besties. Honest! I started writing about how I got my internship with Betsey Johnson and even gave you a sneak peek of not only my little NY apartment, but Betsey's as well! Didn't see that post? Don't fret. I have it right here! I wrote the last post before she filed chapter 11 bankruptcy. I couldn't believe when I heard!

This is me in front of the Seattle, Betsey store. Sadly since the bankruptcy it was put out of business.

Anywhoodle, today I am going to talk about her office and what it was that I did for her.

Betsey Johnson Corporate is located in the fashion district of New York on 36th and 7th. I was so excited to start my first day and at first look of the office, I was not disappointed! Here's a little tour.

This is what the elevators opened up to. Thinking back on it now I can remember how that whole floor smelled. It was like eucalyptus and menthol. Probably because Betsey doused herself in eucalyptus and was always sucking on menthol throat drops. True story.

That little window was for the receptionist. And behind that silver door was the mail room and the break room. The pics on the wall are of her and her granddaughter, Layla.

 Waiting area.

Coming through the waiting area, you entered her showroom. Also the Intern's hang out.

These are racks of a few season's collections. They were what magazine editors and celebrities, or their stylists would flip through when they wanted to borrow clothes for fashion shoots or events. I got to meet Lily Allen. See Exhibit A for what she picked out.

Exhibit A
Left: Silk Bow Dress. Right: Sequined black party dress

I love Lily Allen! This song was even my Myspace page song for a while. Way back when!

Alright. Back on track.

This was the left side of the show room

Betsey had painted girl murals on the wall.

This is the conference room. Also, The intern's sewing room. I sewed a few things in here for fashion shows.

This is Betsey's office. Small, but she was never really in it anyways.

So what did I do there?

Everything.

I sewed buttons on sweaters

Dyed fabrics experimentally

Put glitter on sun glasses

Went to Macy's to buy Betsey's make-up. She favors Chanel's red lipstick.

Picked up coffee from the coffee shop around the corner. What was her order? I still remember it. Nonfat chai tea latte with two equals.

I made dinner reservations

Called private schools for 5 hours straight to get her granddaughter in to kindergarten 2 years in advance.

picked up lunch

searched her apartment for lost medications

made fabric and trim runs

delivered dresses to photo shoots. I've seen the inside of COSMO'S office!

packaged 500 invitations for the fashion show

shmoozed made a ninny of myself with Tori Spelling and LL Cool J

Helped with model fittings

Came up with dress line names. Jesus Jugs actually helped me out with that too (over the phone that is)

Photoshopped

Worked sample sales

And I decorated!

Like really decorated. Give me $500.00 to Party City and this is what I can do.

Me and Betsey's dog Lucy pre- Halloween party. I carved that pumpkin. It was supposed to be Marilyn Monroe's Face. You can see it right? Kind of?

The party theme was Rock Star. Me and another Intern, Sara were Salt and Peppa. But literally we were Salt and Peppa. Haha!

This is Betsey's Daughter Lulu with her daughter, Layla and Betsey's Dog, Lucy.

This is me and Betsey. She was Amy Winehouse. Freaking awesome.

I also decorated for Christmas, but This is the only photo I have to show for it.

Me and Lucy in her winter suit.

I interned for Betsey from August until December. I was the longest running intern so I made sure to take seniority over the others. I mean, it was my right to do so. They loved me.

Me and Betsey on my last day.

It was tradition for an intern's last day to throw a little party for them after work. The office puts together a little goody bag full of Betsey stuff and they give you flowers. It's nice.

This was me and Brandon, He was the main evening wear designer and head of all the interns. Under me of course.

Here I am saying "Peace Out Betsey Johnson!"

My last day also happened to be Betsey Johnson's Holiday Party.

Here we are again saying a final Good bye.

Living in New York was one of the funnest times of my short lived life. Now that you've seen what I did with Betsey. Stay tuned for next time when I show you more fun times I had with some of my still very good friends, The Webster Girls!
