Toast to Thursday

Getting ready for the weekend, I thought a drink recipe each week would be a fun post to have. This little cocktail doesn't have a name, but it's from Food Network's Guy Fieri, and it's even patriotic! What more could you ask for?

Here is what you need:

1 ounce watermelon schnapps
1 big splash of cranberry juice
1 very thin slice of jalepeno pepper (just a slice, not the whole pepper!)
1 slice lemon
1 slice lime
1 1/2 ounces tequila ( It doesn't have to be Patron!)
1/4 ounce blue curacao
1/2 ounce simple syrup
Watermelon wedge for garnish

Prep time: less than 10 min.
Yields: 1 drink (to make a batch just make sure to keep the red and the blue liquids separate)

Mix the schnapps and cran juice in a shaker; pour into an ice filled glass.

Muddle the jalepeno pepper slice, lemon and lime slices, tequila and blue curacao and simple syrup in the shaker.

Slowly strain into the glass over the red layer. Garnish with Watermelon and enjoy!

The end product will look like this:

Cheers to the red, white and blue!

What I'm wanting Wednesday

For those of you who know what it's like to be a broke college student... Or just to be broke in general. Im putting a few pictures together every wednesday of things I don't necessarily need, but am DYING to have.

The first item I definitely, actually REALLY do need and would seriously cut my left arm off to own, is this little beauty:

It's the Raspberry Ice Artisan, 5 quart, 325 watt KitchenAid mixer. It can be found exclusively at William-Sonoma with sales benefiting the Susan G. Koman Foundation. I can totally envision me making Christmas cookies with this gem in my dream retro style kitchen!

Next up are these super cute and comfortable (I tried them on at the store) BCBGeneration Evie pumps.

I bought a really cute apricot colored BCBGeneration dress for my Dad's Mexican Cruise wedding, taking place Halloween weekend. I still have some time to find the right heels, but I'm thinking these little shoezies are the ones! Now I just need to wait for them to go on sale!

This is what the dress looks like. Won't it be perfect?

The last MUST HAVE item is a big floppy beach hat. One of my guilty pleasures is watching all of  The Real Housewives TV shows on Bravo, although the OC series is the best. If you're like me, you love Gretchen Rossi's fashion style and therefore understand the importance of the floppy hat for this season. Plus, it will be great for the cruise! This one can be found at Target for only $12.99!

Hope you're all having a fabulous day!

Get Naked!

Last night while I was not quite ready to go to bed and too bored to do anything else, I decided to pass the time and went to one of my favorite sites, Etsy. While there I came across this really cute and whimsical idea from TastySuite.

They are vinyl art decal letters to go on the outside of the bath tub. Waking up to this in the morning would make me giggle! Just a little something to make life more fun!

All About Chevron!

Hello Blogettes!

I have always been into patterns that make bold and bright statements in a home, and although any pattern can really zhush up a room, this season my latest love is chevron. It's simple, sophisticated, modern and has been around for years! The design can be found in architecture and textiles, and I even used it as the design for my portfolio cover page. Of course this look isn't for everyone, it's certainly one to play around with.  Use temporary items like rugs, pillows, towels and blankets to try out this fun and fresh design.

Hello Blogosphere!

I promised myself the minute I graduated college I would start my first real blog. With no homework I had plenty of time to create the perfect background, write exactly what I wanted in the about me section and even create a button. The only problem is, I finished all that four days ago and have since been obsessing over what it is I actually want to publish as my first post! Im sure all you bloggers out there understand how intimidating the first post can be. So here it is, the start of “Diary of a Blonde,” wish me luck!
