Hello Diary Readers! Today's post is about trying new things. I like to consider myself an adventurer in ALL aspects of life but there are things that unless the opportunity arose I would most likely not try nor care if I did. Like what you see with the photo below.... YES! That is escargot. And YES! I tried it.
Did I order it on my own? Def not. Wes and I went to the "White House" an uber fancy overly priced tiny restaurant for one of his friends' graduation. It was a ton of fun. We got to dress fancy, Wes ordered me an expensive glass of wine all gentleman like. And one of his friends, (apparently he's a freak) ordered some snails so I tried one.
Will I have it again? Probably not. Was it satisfying? No. Not really. In fact, all I could think of the whole time I chewed on the squishy garlic, pesto covered rubber animal, was that he could have been in my grandma's garden at one point in his life. Ew.
The next unique food item was oyster's on the half shell. Not so weird as the slug above but still not all that common either.
Wes loves him some raw bar, so when it's available (and we're near the sea of course) he orders it. I actually had oysters for the first time in Connecticut last weekend but I tried them again this weekend when we met Nurse Bestie and her ginger hubs at Fisherman's Restaurant in my beloved town, San Clemente.
That's right people, this place is less than 15 minutes driving from mi casa. Jealous?
We had such a nice time with warm weather, good fresh seafood, brewskies and conversation!
We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. - Walt Disney
Um yes. I am jealous. that is so. not. fair.
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure about the escargot, but I love me some oysters! Good for you for trying new things though!
Hi there! I just found your blog and I love it. I am super jealous you are a natural blonde. I often feel I was born in the wrong body and every eight weeks have to attend to some personal hair coloring maintenance. So the White House is the restaurant that catered my wedding! The story behind the owner of the restaurant is amazing. Also, the Fisherman's Restuarant is where my husband, then boyfriend, took me for our first anniversary over nine years ago! Love that place forever!
