Honey, I'm Home!

As an interior designer, I love paying close attention to character's homes in movies. Some of my favorites include Cameron Diaz's and Kate Winslet's houses in "The Holiday," Diane Keaton's home in "Something's Gotta Give," and of course, Meryl Streep's house in "It's Complicated." I even wrote a blog post about them. I've recently found a new tinsel town home that I am absolutely in love with! It's Leslie Mann's and Jason Bateman's mini mcmansion from "The Change Up."

When I saw the previews for this movie, I thought it could either be really stupid or pretty funny and I am happy to say that I thought it was the latter.

The house used in the movie is actually in Atlanta, Georgia but the interior was shot in a studio. I love this southern, traditional home.

Oh! Hi Leslie! Thanks, we would love to come in!

The colorings used in this home are so pretty. Dark wood floors and stair rails against the white moldings and millwork are just my style!

See? The pale yellow wallpaper is so homey and inviting.

There was a ton of texture and patterns used for the styling of this house. I even like the green and blue striped stair runner. Also, notice the picture collage around the antique clock. So cool.

How cute is that chocolate toile print chair?

I even like the blue and yellow china on the shelves in the background. Adding lots of rugs is another way to make wood floors cozy.

The family room looks pretty cluttered and "lived" in but I still love it!

This is my dream dining room! I always tend to lean towards those kind of chair when I am in furniture stores. The sideboard is great too.

Loving the shabby chic hutch. Even the highchairs are pretty freaking sweet!

The kitchen is a little different. I do love the green backsplash tile but if it were my house I think I would have done a different color.

The floral curtains are pretty cute, but again, I just don't think this room matches the rest of the house. Don't get me wrong though. I die for this kitchen!

And all its white cabinet glory!

I hope my dream home has an eat-in kitchen area too. So fun!

The nursery is print overload but I still like it. I think the floral wallpaper with the zoo animal boarder is so sweet.

This is one of my favorite rooms in the house. The small tile from the millwork to the ceiling is so chic.

And the backlit mirrors are gorgeous and convenient.

Man. That shower is just asking for me to get in it.

I. Freaking. Adore. This. Bedding. It's simple and pretty. I like that it's feminine but still kind of geometric and not really girly. And I really like the sheets paired with it.

I like the curtains too! I could go without the wallpaper in this room though. I think just a nice soft buttercream would be nice. Or even a cool teal.

Shoot, I actually don't care. I would move into that bedroom in a second.

Especially with that window seat. Where can I find a house like this in OC? I need to know!

Happy Thursday, Diary readers!

A Marriage Proposal

Not for me! I'm not quite ready to walk down that aisle yet. :)

One of my favorite bloggers, Erin from Apartment 34 posted this on her blog yesterday, and it was so sweet that I had to post it too. I wasn't quite sure how I was going to feel about it before I watched it, but the amount of effort put in by the bride and grooms family and friends as well as the creativity on the grooms side and the catchy song, it's so cute.  Erin dared her readers not to tear up when they watched it. I decided to challenge her- she was right. I teared up. Watch it for yourself, it is so worth it!

Whimsy & Magic

Disney has always been a huge part of my life. I watched Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty on VHS so often when I was little that the tape actually got those streaky white lines in it. For my 18th Birthday my mom gave me Sleeping Beauty on DVD and I think I cried. Ever since I can remember I have (and still do) wanted to be a Disney Princess. I actually have been a few times for Halloween... I just counted it out now. I've been Belle, Ariel, Princess Jasmine, Wendy Darling and Alice. One year I'd like to be Tinkerbelle.

Anyways. I was doing some blog reading today and came across these awesome photographs of new ads that Disney has made featuring celebrities posing as Disney Characters. They are stunning to say the least. Disney you did it again! Take a look at some of this whimsical eye candy.

Beyonce Knowles, Lyle Lovett and Oliver Platt as Alice in Wonderland.

Zach Efron and Vanessa Hudgens as the Prince and Aurora in Sleeping Beauty.

David Beckham is Prince Stefan in Sleeping Beauty

Russell Brand channels Capitan Hook

Jack Black, Will Ferrell and Jason Segel as the ghosts from The Haunted Mansion.

Alec Baldwin joins Olivia Wilde as the Evil Queen from Snow White.

Penelope Cruz and Jeff Bridges appear as Beauty and the Beast.

Queen Latifah as Ursula.

I love this one. This is Julianne Moore playing Ariel while Michael Phelps is the Merman in the foreground.

Giselle Bundchen, Tina Fey and Mikhail Baryshnikov Play Wendy, Tinkerbelle and Peter.

Rachel Weisz portrays Snow White.

Orlando Bloom is King Arthur.

Jessica Biel is Pocahontas.

My absolute favorite is Scarlet Johansson as Cinderella.

Annie Leibovitz is the photographer for these beautiful pictures. If you would like to learn more about them or check out some behind the scenes photos in making them, go to THIS website.

Happy Friday Diary Readers, have a fabulous holiday weekend!

Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Not working a 9-5 job is really killing my personal life. I'm home all day while the BF and all my friends are at work, and then I'm working nights and weekends when they have off. It's really a catch 22. Do I want to be working an office job making 14 dollars an hour or do I want to work a few hours a day and make 18-20? Right now my student loans, car insurance and rent are choosing the latter.

I digress. What this post is really supposed to be about is the movie, Crazy, Stupid, Love.

I wanted to see it when it came out in theaters but never got around to it. Tonight I closed at the restaurant, so when all my peeps were going to bed, I had dinner and put on HBO movies on demand. I practically squealed the ruby club out of my mouth when I saw that Crazy, Stupid, Love. was on the free list. Obviously, I turned it on. And it was SO good.

It made me laugh, tear up and it was relatable. It doesn't hurt that Ryan Gosling is so hot he pretty much starts a fire in my panties. And I really like Emma Stone. Also Steve Carell was good too. But man. Ryan. WOO! Definitely number 1 on my top 5 celebrities to sleep with. Sorry Dad. I know you read this.

Digressing again. If you haven't seen it, check it out on HBO on Demand while its on. There was this really cute Dirty Dancing scene, that try as I might I could not find the whole thing on youtube to post.
But the movie ended with a great song. Blood, By Middle East. That I did find on youtube.

It's not very often these days that a movie ends and ya think to yourself "Wow! That was a really good movie." And then it puts you in a happy mood for the rest of the day. That is this kind of movie. So thanks.

Happy Thursday Diary readers.

UPDATE: Dating in Real Live vs. The Movies

Hi friends! Just a little over a week ago I wrote a post about dating in real life compared to dating in the movies. You can read that post and catch up here! A ton has happened since this last post. So much so that I feel that I have to explain. Me and Wes are official. like FB official. To me, thats a big deal, and the first time I have ever had the little heart appear at the top of my profile. It's nice.

Back to my point. In my post before I wrote about crazy things in movies that never happen in real life.  It's time for me to eat my words. Turns out, some of them do! The italicized are the questions I had asked and below them are my new answers.

1. How in the hell does she look so good for their date?!?
I still try and look my best when I know we're hanging out, and that is still stressful. But he's seen what I look like when I wake up in the morning and still calls so I'm not too concerned.

2. How do they manage to do the above and cook a full meal?
Cooking a full meal. It is in fact possible. I have managed to be primped up and at his house by 7:00 and in 45 min made this, (see pic below.) I found the recipe from Pinterest and it really was delicious.

3. What happens to the dog when they decided to have an impromptu sleep over?
Rox comes with! I am lucky that Wes is aware I am apart of a "package deal," he doesn't mind that she sleeps in the bed and even takes her to the puppy park. She really likes him and he seems to like her. Score.

THIS ONE IS THE BIG ONE.

4. What time did they get up that morning if they're getting coffee from the corner before the other is awake? That DOESN'T happen.
Actually, it does. I know exactly what time the other gets up to run down the street and get not only coffee, BUT BREAKFAST! That's right ladies, I got to enjoy a smoked salmon bagel sandwich and orange juice before I left for work Saturday morning, and he watched Rox for me. A-mazing!

Note: He told me that he hasn't read my blog since the first two posts that were written about him. I believe him and am glad that he came up with this on his own!

5. Since when do us girls wake up with perfectly tousled bed hair and pristine make-up? In my dreams.
I still don't wake up like that darn it. But he lets me know how sexy I am anyways. I get called cute all the time and I've accepted the fact that I'm a Betty, not a Joan. I don't mind this at all- I like to be cute but I really like being considered sexy.

6. Who is their interior decorator, and how is their house always clean?
This hasn't changed much either. My house is usually pretty clean and I think it's decorated cute. He lives in a perma "man cave" but it's sweet that he really cleans his apartment before I come over. I know fresh vacuum lines when I see them.

7. How do they have so many cute clothes in their closet? It takes me hours to figure out what I want to wear for a date.
It still takes me a while but not as long!

8. How come it starts raining at the exact moment it needs to?
If a freak romantic rain shower happens then I'm going to call it serendipity.

9. They never have to wait for a table when they go out for dinner. Do they always just make reservations?
The great thing about being older. THE RESTAURANT BAR. Why not drink while you wait for your table? We did.

10. Where do these women get off always wearing cute, uncomfortable under things?
I'm warning you now this might be a little TMI. I've solved this problem by not wearing any at all. Duh.

There you have it. Maybe the Movies aren't all make believe after all!
